This project for an art piece conceived by the artists Evelyne de Behr and Léa Mayer consists in inserting an arch – the replica of a domestic timber frame from the Destrier social apartment planned to be demolished. In this apartment, the two artists worked in residence in close relationship and dialogue with the inhabitants. The scale and orientation of this existing ‘relic’ will be transposed as an arch into the public space, in the ‘Mail of the Hacquenée’, true spine of the neighbourhood. During the annual party, the inhabitants can measure themselves on the arch and write their name on it. An invitation to extend their intimate habit of measuring their kids beyond the private realm. The texture of the arch respects the quality of the initial print with all its imperfections, abstracted by its different materiality in smooth and light concrete.
